Improving Tomorrow’s Climate Today:
California Climate Initiatives

California has adopted the most significant green house gas reduction commitment in the country to mitigate against catastrophic climate change. The latest scientific consensus has shown that climate change is already underway and communities across the world are beginning to adapt.  The State’s built environment and construction industry is a large contributor of green house gas emissions and will have to go through a major transformation for the State to meet its climate goals. This session will feature policy experts from the state and local level for an in depth discussion of the necessary synergy between green building and climate initiatives. State level experts will cover California’s climate plan and how it will address land use and buildings and a local government expert will describe how a leading community is melding its climate and green building programs.
